A New Perspective
"At Dyslexia’s root is a natural ability, a talent. Dyslexia is not a complexity. It is a compound of simple factors which can be dealt with step-by-step"

Dyslexia - and I am including all specific learning difficulties under the umbrella of that word - is not a disability.
People with dyslexia simply have a different thinking style.
But traditionally, dyslexia has been viewed as a disability. Many remedial approaches have focused on coping strategies involving drill and repetition because of this view and now the government has given dyslexics support, under the Disability Discrimination Act, based on this view .
Members of the Davis Dyslexia Facilitators Association (DDFA) understand the root cause of what are called specific learning difficulties.
We recognise that dyslexia is a form of intelligence, not a disability. Our approach treats dyslexic intelligence with dignity and harnesses it to the process of correcting learning problems.
