I started my teaching career more than 20 years ago at an independent, secondary school in Balham, south London where I taught maths and physics for a year and a half. After that, I taught maths for more than nine years at an inner-city school in north-west London. I must admit that I did not know anything about dyslexia, ADD/ADHD and other related learning differences before they entered my personal life. I remember feeling very confused about some of my students, who were labelled as 'learning disabled' and yet were very articulate and could easily remember various information about their favourite football team, computer games, pop group, cars, films and so on; but no matter how hard they tried to learn simple maths concepts, they simply could not retain the information.
As soon as I discovered the Davis methods, my confusions started to melt away; finally I was able to understand why some children were finding academic work so difficult and what sort of an impact that had on their self-esteem, confidence and family life.
I completed my Davis training in January, 2002 and since than I’ve had the pleasure of helping many children and adults achieve their true potential.
At the moment, I work from home and I run a practice in Mill Hill together with Dr Joyce Fein who is a child and family consultant.
